
Colonial Beach Chamber of Commerce and Community Foundation to Host Town Council Candidates’ Forum

Residents in Colonial Beach have important decisions to make on Election Day, November 8, 2022. Nine candidates are vying for four open seats on the Town Council. Kenneth Allison Jr., Anthony (Tony) DiMonti, Charles (Chuck) DiNenna, Bryon (Tree) Mack, Anthony (Tony) Scisciani Jr., David Williams, Richard (Rick) Wood are on the ballot for a 4-year term in the General Election. Lisette Montalvo and Vicki Roberson are on the ballot for the 2-year term in the Special Election.
According to the Town’s website (www.colonialbeachva.net) the elected officials are responsible for approving the budget and setting tax rates; focusing on major community projects and goals; considering the Town’s long-term future through land use, capital improvement, and strategic planning.
For over 15 years the Colonial Beach Community Foundation and Colonial Beach Chamber of Commerce have cosponsored candidates' forums with the goal of increasing voter understanding and engagement. Voters are encouraged to get involved by submitting questions and attending the forum either in person or virtually. The forum will take place on Tuesday, September 20, 7 pm, at the Colonial Beach Town Center located at 22 Washington Avenue. Early voting in Virginia begins on September 23.Questions must be submitted by 5 PM, September 13, to info@cbcommunityfoundation.org. The top 5 questions will be given to each candidate by September 15. The candidates then will provide a written profile and their answers to those top 5 questions by September 18. The profiles and answers will be printed and distributed to the audience on the night of the forum. They also will be available to download from www.cbcommunityfoundation.org on the afternoon of the 20th in advance of the forum. All questions received by 5 PM, September 13 will be shared with all candidates on the 19th. Questions can also be submitted during the first 15 minutes of the forum. Questions asked of the candidates will be randomly selected, and each candidate will have an opportunity to address at least two.
