Tom and his wife have been permanent residents of Colonial Beach for the past 10 years. Prior to that she was a partner in a successful catering business in Frederick, Maryland. As a Board member of the Colonial Beach Chamber of Commerce, Joan organized and orchestrated The Boardwalk Arts and Crafts Festival for several consecutive years. Cathy Bokman
Director Emeritus

Consultant, Madison Hospitality

Like many Colonial Beach residents, Cathy loves the spirit of our community and sees great opportunities for the community to thrive. The Foundations enables her to lend her experience in marketing, management, and leadership to a longstanding, respected organization that is mission driven and focuses on improving the community in a nonpolitical environment. She also co-chairs our flagship fundraiser, the Annual Northern Neck Beach Music Festival.

Peter M. Fahrney
Director Emeritus

Retired

Peter became a member of the Board of Directors during its formation in 2005 and was elected President in 2007, and considers it a privilege to serve in that role until 2019. Peter believes that the Colonial Beach Community Foundation is the vehicle in which people who love this small town and wish to make a lasting impact can do so. He describes the Foundation as a long-term stable organization dedicated to improving the quality of life in our town.

Mitzi Hall Saffos
Director Emeritus

Co-Owner & Manager, Colonial Beach Brewing

Mitzi oversees operation of the Colonial Beach Community Center (located at 717 Marshall Ave on the Point), to include maintenance, rental, and use of the building and grounds.

Mitzi is a Colonial Beach native and graduate of Colonial Beach High School. After  earning a Bachelor Degree in history from Mary Washington College, she was employed by Fredericksburg museums. Since returning full-time to Colonial Beach, her focus has been on  improving her community and meeting its needs, which she sees as the Foundation's main focus. Unsurprisingly given her major, in addition to her involvement with the Foundation, Mitzi also is involved with the Colonial Beach Historical Society and Colonial Beach Museum.
