Michele Inderrieden
President

As President, Michele, with the support of the other Board members, leads the Colonial Beach Community Foundation. Together, they are responsible for accomplishing the Foundation's mission. Michele also represents the Foundation to Town Council and other organizations.
Michele moved to Colonial Beach in 2017 and immediately wanted to make a positive impact in the community. She firmly believes in the Foundation's mission "to improve the quality of life in and around Colonial Beach" and that the Foundation can well serve all people in the 22443 zip code.
Tom Tilt
Vice President, Administration
Retired
As Vice President of Administration, Tom performs the duties of President in the event of the President's absence or incapacity. He covers the responsibility of organizing the Board meetings, developing the agendas, and conducting the meetings. The Vice President of Administration also serves as Parliamentarian, acts as the Foundation's historian, coordinates the work of administrative staff, and oversees recruitment of new members of the Board of Directors.
Tom and his wife have been permanent residents of Colonial Beach for the past 10 years. He retired from the United States Navy after 30 years of active service and then served as a consultant for 20 years. He fully retired in 2019. A regular volunteer at St. Mary's Food Bank, Tom also volunteered at the Colonial Beach Covid 19 vaccination clinics.
Tom's extensive organizational and financial management experience will help the Foundation grow and meet its objectives serving Colonial Beach. His past experience includes commanding the Navy's Advance Helicopter Training Squadron and Enlisted Personnel Management Center, and serving as director of the Navy's Enlisted Assignment Division at the Bureau of Naval Personnel. As a contractor, he was Project Manager for many multimillion-dollar contracts.
Cathy Bokman
Vice President, Membership & Engagement
Consultant, Madison Hospitality
As Vice President of Membership & Member Engagement, Cathy oversees member recruitment and membership renewals; as well as website development, external communications, and marketing. She also coordinates the Events Committee and volunteers.
Like many of Colonial Beach residents, Cathy loves the spirit of our community and sees great opportunities for the community to thrive. The Foundation enables her to lend her experience in marketing, management, and leadership to a longstanding, respected organization that is mission driven and focused on improving the community in a nonpolitical environment. She also co-chairs one our fundraisers, the Annual Northern Neck Beach Music Festival.

The Vice President of Organizational Impact oversees initiatives to help raise money, and reviews and recommends distribution of grants to the overall Colonial Beach community.
Marcia Feldman
Treasurer
Retired
As Treasurer, Marcia keeps track of the Foundation's bank and investment accounts, maintains monthly accounting records, prepares Tax Form 990 (the tax return form used by nonprofits), provides assistance to auditors as necessary. and delivers financial reports at the monthly Board meetings.

Kay Blunt

Senior Accountant, Hester & Co, CPA's
Kay hopes to bring new ideas to the Foundation, and serve and support events to improve the Town of Colonial Beach. She also brings decades-long accounting experience that will assist the Foundation with its financials, recording, and miscellaneous tax issues, as needed.
Alan Darlington

Retired
One of the Foundation's strategic objectives focuses on heath and well-being. As a retired registered nurse, Alan brings to the Foundation the experience of a decades-long career in healthcare. In addition to providing patient care, he has trained and mentored student nurses and recent graduates, and provided instruction in crisis management and de-escalation of conflicts. He also is fluent in American Sign Language.
Peter M. Fahrney

Peter became a member of the Board of Directors during its formation in 2005 and was elected President in 2007, and considers it a privilege to serve in that role until 2019. Peter believes that the Colonial Beach Community Foundation is the vehicle in which people who love this small town and wish to make a lasting impact can do so. He describes the Foundation as a long-term stable organization dedicated to improving the quality of life in our town.
Joan Fitzpatrick

Joan brings extensive fundraising and event coordination experience to the Foundation's Organizational Impact group.
Many may know Joan as the former owner of The Plaza Bed and Breakfast, which she established and operated for 20 years. Prior to that she was a partner in a successful catering business in Frederick, Maryland. As a Board member of the Colonial Beach Chamber of Commerce, Joan organized and orchestrated The Boardwalk Arts and Crafts Festival for several consecutive years. Over the years, she has successfully raised hundreds of thousands of dollars, including a $200,000-plus capital campaign benefitting St. Elizabeth's here in Town.
Now that she is retired, Joan wants to give back to the Colonial Beach community. As a Foundation Board member, she hopes to work with the Organizational Development group to develop initiatives that will augment the fundraising efforts of the Foundation.

President of Beach Arts, Music, & Mentoring (BAMM)
Retired
BAMM, a Foundation partner project, is dedicated to enhancing the lives of the youth of Colonial Beach. In addition to sponsoring and administering their own programs, BAMM administers any Foundation programs that involve the youth of our community.
John is a retired small business owner and a Certified Computer Network Engineer. He serves as the Family Ombudsman for the Federal Brain Injury Grant to the Commonwealth of Virginia, as well as a member of the Virginia Brain Injury Council.
Mary Larson

Inpatient Rehab Insurance Authorizations for HCA, Physical Therapist
Mary joined the Foundation because she has seen all the wonderful support it has provided to many community services and projects, and wants to learn more about how to help the Colonial Beach community. She is new to the Board, but she is already volunteering and assisting with various events and Foundation projects, and learning how the Foundation functions.

With bachelor and master degrees in Economics, and experience in both domestic and international affairs, Eric has had a long career in community and economic development. He has been an entrepreneur, owning a small chain of retail businesses in the DC and Northern Virginia area, and actively involved in the communities where he conducted business. Eric believes in using his skills and experience to give back to his community and help it thrive.
Mitzi Hall Saffos

Co-Owner & Manager, Colonial Beach Brewing
Mitzi oversees operation of the Colonial Beach Community Center (located at 717 Marshall Ave on the Point), to include maintenance, rental, and use of the building and grounds.
Mitzi is a Colonial Beach native and graduate of Colonial Beach High School. After earning a Bachelor Degree in history from Mary Washington College, she was employed by Fredericksburg museums. Since returning full-time to Colonial Beach, her focus has been on improving her community and meeting its needs, which she sees as the Foundation's main focus. Unsurprisingly given her major, in addition to her involvement with the Foundation, Mitzi also is involved with the Colonial Beach Historical Society and Colonial Beach Museum.
Ann Swope

Current Senior Consultant, Bowhead Support Services, Inc.
As a longtime Colonial Beach resident, she shares a good understanding of the strengths, weaknesses, and needs of our community. Her support for the Foundation is grounded in the desire to serve her community in a way that improves quality of life and opportunity for all.
With a Master of Science degree in Environmental Toxicology, Ann's early career focused on environmental protection and permitting for the Navy, as well as ensuring the safety of employees and the public from the Navy's research, development, test, and evaluation (RDT&E) activities. Additional career responsibilities included supervision, management, and leadership as Chief of Staff for a large Naval RDT&E Center.
